Norton Roadholder Damper Upgrade

The first product resulting from Cosentino Engineering’s race development program is a cartridge damping upgrade kit for Norton Commando Roadholder, post ‘73 Triumph T140 and T150 and Ceriani roadrace forks.

The Upgrade kit replaces the stock damping assembly and springs with a modern Showa unit incorporating adjustable compression and rebound damping circuits and a custom internal single rate spring with adjustable preload.  To comply with the rules of most US vintage racing organizations (AHRMA, WERA, USCRA) all adjustments are hidden from view, but easily accessed.  For the discerning classic street rider, there will be no evidence of the kit other than a new alloy fork cap.

5 different spring rates are available:

  • 25 lb/in for lightweight racebikes
  • 30 lb/in for normal street riding
  • 40 lb/in for racebikes and 2 up streetbikes
  • 45 lb/in for 600+cc racebikes
  • 55 lb/in for heavy streetbikes and hard riding

There are fork caps avilable for fork or fairing mounted gauges.  Please specify desired version when ordering.

12/11/2020 update:

Honda has increased the pricing of the parts used in this kit, the updated price is $1030.00 per set and includes all components and Redline fork oil needed for complete retrofit.  2 sets of springs comes with the kit to best dial the ride in.

For users who wish to retain an external spring setup a version is available without springs and related mounting hardware for $940.00  Please note: this version does not provide spring preload adjustability and the springs and mounting hardware are not included.

Norton Roadholder Bushing upgrade Kit

The second product from Cosentino Engineering is another upgrade for Norton Roadholder forks and is a Bushing Upgrade kit that replaces the OEM metal bushings and old style oil seal with new Teflon-lined bushings and a low friction seal.

The kit includes a set of machined adaptors that hold custom Teflon-lined bushings onto the OEM bushing mount points and uises a low friction fork seal with retaining ring to further reduce fork stiction.  This is the same bushing style in modern OEM Showa and Ohlins forks and provides low friction and reduced oil contamination as compared to the OEM bare metal bushings.  The upgrade kit is drop-in and requires no modifications to the fork components.   It comes with all the parts necessary for installation including a set of standard Norton dust boots.  It is recommended to increase the fork oil viscosity when installing this kit as the reduced friction significantly changes the damping characteristics.  If you are a user of my Roadholder Damper upgrade kit, I recommend going from 5W to 10W Redline fluid to account for the reduced friction levels.

The bushings and seals are available separately for rebuilds.
